Klotz Communications finalizes purchase of Qphonics assets

Munich, December 2015

Klotz Communications today announced it has purchased the assets of the former Qphonics from the company’s insolvency lawyers.

Buying back the assets of Qphonics (former Klotz Digital) closes the loop on what Klotz Communications set out to achieve, which is to help existing users of the VADIS platform to extend the product’s lifecycle and the investment they made in Klotz Digital, and at the same time provide a safe upgrade path to the next generation of products and technology.

Klotz Communications is now the sole owner of all intellectual property, including hardware and software, and controls all licensing, maintenance and upgrades for the VADIS platform worldwide. The buy-back also gives the company access to a warehouse of spare parts, console surface modules, and critical elements such as PSUs and controller modules for Vadis frames of various generations.

“Over the last 12 months we have contacted many of the long-term Vadis users and found that most systems are still in use 14+ years after they were installed, despite the corporate changes at Klotz Digital/Qphonics, and the lack of support that resulted from those changes. In conversations with end-users we learned that the hardware was rock solid and hadn’t failed on them over all these years. What we also learned was that users were hesitant to change their system as research showed that other systems couldn’t replicate the flexibility and adaptability to a stations workflow like a VADIS system can, so there was a real pull for Klotz Communications to buy back what was lost under unfortunate circumstances 5 years ago”, Thomas Klotz commented.

Klotz communications was founded in January 2015 by Thomas Klotz and Andre Sauer to address the broadcast market with a new range of products and innovative developments such as the Touchstone® technology. The company quickly established regional support offices in China, Singapore, Germany, and the USA to be closer to the market and support the existing systems. Klotz Communications offers a complete suite of consoles and routers to serve the Radio industry, from small stand-alone consoles to large, complex broadcast centres.

Highlights of the year for the company were the launch of its Touchstone® controller and the awards the product won at NAB; the release of its Broadcast Productivity Suite of software applications specifically targeted at the radio market at the IBC conference, and now the acquisition of the assets and IP of Qphonics/Klotz Digital.

After a very successful first year, the company has already outgrown its offices and is taking the year-end break as an opportunity to move to a bigger facility.  The team is looking forward to an exciting 2016 with the pending launch of its new DC3 console surface, that broadcasters and users of the VADIS technology are eagerly awaiting.

Users of the VADIS platform, including DC2, AEON, and XENON consoles, are encouraged to contact Klotz Communications at to discuss immediate service and support requirements.

Andre Sauer joins Thomas Klotz as a shareholder and operating partner

Andre Sauer – new shareholder and operating partner

Andre’s involvement in the broadcasting industry spans over 17 years.  After he started his career at an Australian equipment manufacturer he joined Klotz Digital in 2000 to head up the Asia Pacific operations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He quickly put his stamp on the organisation and opened an office in Australia to cater for the huge demand the company received from Australian broadcasters. It was under his leadership that the company enjoyed its stellar growth in the region and became a household name when it came to digital consoles and audio networking solutions for radio broadcasters.

In 2007 Andre left Klotz Digital and Malaysia to return to Perth with his family where his three boys started their schooling. Andre remained in a consultative role to Thomas Klotz over the ensuing years and followed the developments in the broadcast market.

In 2014 Thomas and Andre decided to start the new company, Klotz Communications, to support the thousands of installations of Klotz Digital products the world over, and to develop the next generation of audio products to address the development in the audio and broadcasting industries.
